Terms and conditions
The rules for using oCompress and its free tools. Last updated October 23, 2026.
Agreement to these terms
These terms and conditions govern your use of https://ocompress.com and all its language versions (the "site"), operated by oCompress (ocompress.com), referred to below as "we" or "us". By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. How we handle data is described in the privacy policy.
The service
The site provides tools that reduce the size of image, video, audio and document files, together with information about file formats. The tools run in your web browser: your files are processed on your own device and are not uploaded to us. Results depend on your files, your settings, your browser and your device.
The site is free to use. It is financed by advertising shown on its pages, including ads delivered by Ezoic and Google AdSense. You may not generate artificial ad impressions or clicks, for example with automated tools.
Acceptable use
You may use the tools for personal and commercial purposes. You agree not to:
- use the site in any way that breaks the law or infringes the rights of others, including by processing files you have no right to use;
- attempt to disrupt, overload or gain unauthorized access to the site or its server;
- copy, frame or republish the site's pages or tools as your own service, or scrape its content in bulk;
- remove or hide the advertising on pages you embed or redistribute.
You are responsible for the files you process and for having the rights to them. Because we never receive your files, we have no knowledge of or control over their content.
Keep your originals
Compression, especially lossy compression, permanently removes information from the copy it produces. Always keep the original file until you have checked that the compressed result meets your needs. This is particularly important for documents with legal value, digitally signed files, archival copies, and photos or recordings you cannot replace. We do not have copies of your files and cannot restore them.
No warranty
The site and its tools are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not guarantee any particular size reduction, quality, speed or compatibility of the results, that a compressed file will be accepted by a particular service, or that the site will be available without interruption or errors. Information on the site, including the file size limits of third-party services, is provided for guidance and may be out of date; check the current rules of the service concerned.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, oCompress is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or special damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site or its tools, including loss of data, loss of quality in compressed files, missed deadlines or rejected submissions. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages; in those jurisdictions our liability is limited to the smallest extent the law allows. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived by contract.
Content and open-source software
The texts, design and logo of the site belong to oCompress. You may link to any page of the site. The tools include open-source libraries that remain under their own licenses; the list of these libraries and their licenses is published with the tool code: libraries and licenses. Names of file formats and programs mentioned on the site are trademarks of their respective owners and are used only to describe compatibility.
External links
The site links to websites operated by others, for example the help pages of email services and messengers. We do not control those websites and are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms when the site or the law changes. The current version is always published on this page, with the date of the last revision. If you continue to use the site after a change, the updated terms apply.
